for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control ~ 2 Timothy 1:7
My son is “low tone.” What in the world does that mean? For him it means that he’s half a step behind other kids his age. His coordination is there, but slow. It means he’ll likely never be a competitive athlete. And I’m completely okay with that.
But he also struggles with a host of sensory challenges. The combination of this makes this climbing pole terrifying. He has spend most of his six-and-a-half years watching other kids scurry to the top. He’ll make it a step or two and turn back because the ground looks sooo far away.
In the last few weeks he’s been fearlessly going higher and higher. Today he made it to the top.
All the OT work we do seems like just silly games in the moment (like jumping on the trampoline or endlessly playing play dough), until he can suddenly keep up with his peers.
It may seem like nothing to most moms out there, but this was a happy, proud moment for me and my boy!
